Personal Life Experiences

I have had a lot of ups and downs in life as most people do. Most of the hustle and bustle of my earlier days have turned to more quiet and relaxed days since retiring in 2016. Joined by my wife we have traveled the US in an RV for 6 years and now live stationary in that same RV. I will share some of the fun and not so fun stories with you.

Lifestyle Issues

Getting older means that your lifestyle will probably change a little. That’s not a bad thing. Hopefully that means more fun and less stress. It also means making decisions such as where is the best place to live for me, what type of car should I be driving (economy, luxury, or an SUV to chauffer the grandkids), and do I need life insurance? I will give you my thoughts on these topics and more.

Health & Safety Issues

As we age we tend to live a more relaxed life. While daily life used to consist of going to the gym, running numerous errands, and working it now (hopefully) means a slower paced more relaxed life. This does not mean you spend the day on the reclining chair. You still need to exercise. Also, be aware of scammers. Most scammers target seniors. I will cover these topics and more.

Fun Things To See & Do

Now that your retired (or semi-retired) you should have more time to get out there and have some fun. Sightseeing and visiting new places is a great way to do that. Did you like treasure hunts as a kid? If so Geocaching might interest you. It’s a world wide treasure hunt. I will post some great places to visit including some cool roadside oddities & attractions.

State, Local, and National Parks

Do you love parks? I do. My wife and I love to visit any and all parks that we can. As a senior, you may be entitled to discounts at some. We have the National Parks Pass for Seniors which gets us in to most National parks for free. I will post all kinds of parks here from the largest and most well known to the little local gems.

Tax News & Updates

As a former office manager for Jackson Hewitt I know taxes scare most people, especially seniors. The IRS is constantly changing the laws and it’s tough to keep up with. Do I have to file? Should I file? How and where do I file? I will try and simplify these and other questions the best I can. I will also try and keep you updated on important tax dates and deadlines.
