From RV Life to Florida Life: Our Next Chapter
I’m often asked what it’s like to retire and travel. The answer is simple: it’s a wild, wonderful, and sometimes chaotic adventure! My wife and I lived this incredible journey from when I retired in 2016 to about 2022. We started out with a classic retirement dream: selling everything, buying an RV, and hitting the open road. For six glorious years, we lived the full-time RV life, crisscrossing the country, exploring hidden gems, and working seasonal jobs that let us dive deep into each new location.

Although we had a truck (F-350), our faithful companion was our motorcycle, a two-wheeled exploration vehicle that gave us a sense of freedom you just can’t get in a car. We rode in full gear (nobody likes road rash), soaking up the scenery, riding some of the most iconic roads, and soaking up the sun. But as our bodies began to feel the years, and with the Florida heat proving a bit too much, we decided to trade in the bike for something with air conditioning. We’re still exploring, but now we’re doing it in the comfort of our trusty Ford Escape. It might not have the same thrill as the motorcycle, but trust me, the AC is a fair trade!

Our journey has had its bumps, including a frustrating breakdown in Montana that taught us a lot about resilience.

We decided it was time to make some changes. After a few years of being permanently parked in Central Florida, we recently sold our beloved RV and moved into a regular apartment. It’s a new chapter, but the adventure is far from over! We’ve traded full-time RV travel for a new style of exploration: we now travel to different areas and stay in hotels or cabins, and even tents!!! Our old RV might have been our home, but our new apartment is our home base. We’re proving that senior travel can be flexible, fun, and doesn’t have to look like the traditional retirement of sitting around.

Photography
When I’m not planning our next getaway, you can find me behind a camera lens. Photography and travel are a perfect match, and I love capturing the unique beauty of the world around us. I’ve put some of my favorite shots up for sale in the Life After 60 Store, so feel free to check them out!

This website is my way of sharing the real-life struggles and joys of aging gracefully. I want to inspire others to get out there and explore and be active, whether it’s finding a quirky roadside attraction, discovering a new state park, or simply geocaching in your own backyard. Life is too short to sit still. Follow along as we continue to chase new experiences!

I’m always up for some good conversation or a cup of coffee. If you ever find yourself on the Space Coast of Florida hit me up using the “Contact Me” button below and maybe if I’m not out exploring we could get together.
