Meet Charlie, the magnificent Great Egret who became a true legend! Back in 2016, when I was camping at an RV Park in beautiful Lake Panasoffkee, Florida, I met Charlie. Charlie wasn’t just another bird, he was the campground’s beloved mascot. His story is truly heartwarming: he was once tragically caught in discarded fishing wire, a situation that could have been fatal. Thankfully, some incredibly dedicated campers spotted him and worked tirelessly to set him free. From that day on, Charlie practically adopted the campground dock, visiting campers daily and becoming a cherished friend to everyone. What a testament to kindness and the incredible spirit of a survivor!
