🪵 Campfire Chat: Savannah Edition! 🐊🦟
Hey everyone! Pull up a chair and grab a drink, it’s time for a quick update from the road. I’ve been hunkered down at the Savannah South KOA, and man, it has been an experience.
The Good, The Bad, and The Itchy
First off, the location is a dream. My cabin is perched right on the water, and the views are spectacular. The downside? Apparently, I’m the most popular item on the local menu. The bugs haven’t just bitten me; they’ve basically had a five-course tasting menu at my expense. If you see me scratching while I type this, you know why!
Wild Times in the Wilds
I’ve managed to hit two incredible preserves over the last few days:
- Oatman Wildlife Preserve: This was an awesome mix of hiking trails and wildlife. If you need to clear your head and see some nature, this is the spot.
- Savannah National Wildlife Refuge: I spent the next day here, and it’s a perfect combo of nature trails and a 4-mile wildlife drive. Warning: If you like alligators and birds, you’ll be in heaven. If you don’t… well, maybe stay in the car! 🦎🦅
A Fish Out of Water 🚋
Today, I decided to try something a little different and did a hop-on, hop-off trolley tour of downtown historic Savannah. Now, you guys know me, I usually lean toward state parks and quiet preserves.
I’ll be honest: after navigating the trolley life, I think I’ve confirmed my “natural habitat.” It was interesting, but I’ll be sticking to the state parks and preserves from here on out. Give me a quiet trail over a crowded trolley any day!
Coming Soon: I’m working on full reviews for each of these stops, so keep an eye out for those in the near future!
How about you? Are you a “trolley tour” traveler or a “get lost in the woods” kind of person? Let me know in the comments! 👇
