Gateway Park

Gateway Park Entrance Sign

Gateway Park is a clean and well maintained park located in Yuma Arizona. There is a beach area, two fishing docks, a playground, Ramadas, picnic tables, grills, and restrooms. There is also a multi-use paved walkway utilized by walkers and bicyclists. On our visits, we noted that the park was clean and well-maintained. You can also launch kayaks from this park.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly Mousepad

Liven up your desk area with one of my awesome mouse pads. There are over 50 designs to choose from!!! They measure 9.25” in length and 7.75” wide. They’re durable and dust & stain-resistant. They also make great gifts!!

Watch Where You Park

We found that under the freeway bridge above the parking lot, hundreds of birds hang out and nest there. That being said, be careful where you park…lol.

The Colorado River

Running above the park and crossing the Colorado River is the Ocean to Ocean Bridge as well as train tracks that run parallel to the bridge. We were at the park after dark and were able to see the bridge sign “Ocean – To – Ocean Highway Yuma” lit up.

Gateway Park Picnic Tables

Centrally Located

Gateway Park is centrally located between and within walking distance of the Yuma East Westlands, Pivot Point Plaza, and a little further off is the West Wetlands. We visited all of these and would recommend checking them out.

Homeless At The Locomotive

We did note several homeless people at the Pivot Point Plaza Steam Locomotive display however they did not bother us and stayed to themselves.

Final Thoughts

We visited Gateway Park several times while in Yuma. Relaxing by the Colorado River is extremely peaceful. If you are done relaxing and want to move around a bit, you have options. Nearby hiking and biking trails are everywhere. We would recommend stopping by if you are in the area, especially to catch a sunset and the Ocean to Ocean Bridge sign lit up at night.
