Spreadsheets, Bass Guitar, and Route 66 Dreams
Okay, I’ll be honest , I went full ghost mode last week. No Friday email, minimal social presence, a suspicious lack of the usual chatter. If you filed a missing persons report, you can go ahead and cancel that. I’m alive. Mostly.
Here’s what actually happened:
My spreadsheet situation had gotten out of hand
I am, proudly, a data nerd. However, at some point “organized” became “I have seventeen spreadsheets and I can’t find anything.” It was chaos wrapped in a .xlsx file. So I took the week to evaluate my options and stumbled onto Notion. If you haven’t heard of it, Notion is a productivity app that basically lets you build your own organized universe, databases, notes, trackers, all in one place. I’ve been putting it through its paces and I’m sold. All those rogue spreadsheets are finally getting herded into one home. It’s going to be a long data-entry road ahead, but hey, I’ve got snacks.
Have you used Notion, or anything like it, to corral your digital life? Drop a comment and let me know what’s working for you!
I Found My Inner Bassist (and he’s pretty good)
In between Notion sessions, I’ve been relearning the bass guitar, and it is an absolute blast. I’m working through a proper online course, but the real magic happened when I discovered something incredible on YouTube: videos that remove the bass track from songs and show you the tabs in real time, so you become the bass player. No backing track training wheels. Just you, the groove, and the band waiting on you. It’s equal parts terrifying and exhilarating, and I am completely hooked.
Route 66 Trip Planning Has Officially Begun
The book finally arrived. The highlighters are out. The adventure planning has commenced. I’m starting to build my list of must-see stops along the Mother Road, and the excitement is very real. If you’ve driven any stretch of Route 66, or have a hidden gem you think I absolutely cannot skip, please drop it in the comments. Quirky roadside attractions especially welcome. The weirder the better.
So that’s where I’ve been. Not lost, just deep in data entry, bass lines, and daydreams about the open road. This week it’s back to business, with Notion sessions slotted into the quieter parts of my calendar. Progress, not perfection.
Talk soon, and keep the campfire burning. 🔥
